| The hour and a half trip just to see Rochefort would probably
not justify itself, but as a part of a day out towards the south
of the region, it's well worth visiting.
Probably the Brittany equivalent of our own Devonshire Clovelly,
but laid out flat along the top of a hill, Rochefort en Terre
is unashamedly a tourist attraction.
Its various shops and restaurants are, though, in the best of
taste and offer a wide range of good quality arts and crafts.
Finding a tasty meal should present no problem in one of the eating
places - and McDonalds is conspicuous by its absence!
The architecture is genuine and unspoilt, in our opinion, and
a visit to the art exhibition in the Chateau is on our list of
promised things to do.
If you have children, they'll probably enjoy a trip to the nearby
Parc Prehistoire. |
